Protect home by thinking like a criminal

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Prosecutors from central Indiana shared ways that homeowners could protect their homes on Monday; bu thinking like a criminal.

The event was the first of many burglary prevention forums that will take place throughout central Indiana.

Officials wanted residents to recognize the ways that homes could be made targets including leaving blinds open or not setting an alarm system.

“In the winter time, people are inside because its cold. Usually you get into the summer months and its warm like it is today, people are outside more. And when people are outside more, well then unfortunately, that provides more opportunities for people when they’re out to take things that don’t belong to them,” Brent Eaton, Hancock County Prosecutor.

There are two other session scheduled for the month of July.
