I’ll drink to that! Study shows red wine helps shed pounds

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Those who enjoy red wine will be pleased to find it can help shed some extra pounds.

A new study showed an ingredient in grapes, berries and red wine can help you lose weight.

The International Journal of Obesity claims they all contain an ingredient that turns excess fat into calorie burning fat.

The study recorded mice digesting amounts of resveratrol. This is equivalent to humans eating 12 ounces of fruit per day.

The discovery showed the mice gained 40 percent less weight than rodents, which were not fed the resveratrol.

A lead researcher in the study said blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, grapes, apples and red wine contain resveratrol.

It is recommended to drink Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
