DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Two kayakers were rescued from White River in Delaware County Sunday afternoon, according to officials.

Police tell 24-Hour News 8 that two women were paddling from Yorktown to Anderson when they became separated from each other and their kayaks.

One woman was found clinging to brush in Daleville, near Wild Cherry Lane.

A resident heard someone calling for help and dialed 911.

A water rescue began around 3:15 p.m. One of the women was quickly found but the second was not rescued until shortly about 4:45 p.m.

The second kayaker was located at the bridge at 900 West.

One of the women was taken to the hospital, but neither is believed to have serious injuries.

Police say the White River is very high and dangerous due to flooding.
