USA vs. Japan in World Cup final

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The U.S. Women’s team stunned the world with a win in the semi-finals against number one seed Germany in the World Cup on Tuesday night.

The U.S. defeated Germany 2-0 to advance to the World Cup finals Sunday night.

The United States will compete against Japan for its third Women’s World Cup title on Sunday at 7 p.m.

When asked about the win against Germany, Coach Jill Ellis said, “”It’s not about the system, it’s about the players on the field and they did a great job. I mean, they just played their hearts out. It’s [about] guts tonight and I’m just so so pleased for them.”

Germany had scored the most goals in the World Cup before facing the United States and Coach Ellis attributed that to the work they put in before the game saying, “Well, we prepared very very well. You know watched a lot of film and broke it down, but the players executed, that’s the key.”
