INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  (WISH)- Indians’ pitcher Clayton Richard has has been acquired outright by the Chicago Cubs, the team announced Friday evening.

The transition for Richard will be quick; he’s set to start tomorrow for Chicago at Wrigley Field against the Marlins.

The Lafayette native signed a minor league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates this December.  His contract included an “upward mobility” clause, which opened a 72-hour window in which the Pirates had to make him available to the other teams in Major League Baseball. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
