Medics, deputy overcome by carbon monoxide

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Several people, including medics and a deputy, were overcome by carbon monoxide fumes when they responded to a Columbus home.

According to officials, two medics and a Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy were called to the 3500-block of South 450 East.

When emergency crews arrived to the home, they found two elderly people in the home who were suffering from the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Soon after their arrival, all three emergency officials were overcome by the fumes.  The two elderly residents, two medics and the deputy were all sent to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment.

The deputy has been released from the hospital, while the medics and elderly residents are listed in stable condition.
