Storm cleanup continues in Brownsburg

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (WISH) – Clean up crews were visible in most of central Indiana including Brownsburg, after the strong storms blew through on Monday night.

Strong winds left behind a big mess of fallen trees and broken branches. Thousands of homes and business were still without power on Tuesday night, and the Hendricks Power Cooperative had 30,627 customers without power.

Thankfully in Brownsburg, there were no injuries reported but one family 24-Hour News 8 spoke with did have a large maple tree in their living room.

They went to bed with the storm outside, and woke to the sound of cracking glass inside their home. A tree split and landed in their living room. It severed the electricity to their home.

They reached out to a local tree removal company to remove the split tree.

“We started working at sun up, removing trees from the roof tops of houses, schools and day cares,” said Jesse Hunt with Ping’s Tree Service.

“We have five crews working around the clock. There is a lot of damage in the rural areas. I was called to one home where the tree hit the center of the support beam. It made the structure buckle. That’s a heck of a way to wake up in the morning,” said Gordy Adams, also with Ping’s Tree Service.
