Chef Wendell: Recipes to help hydration this summer

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Water is a vital part of being a human because we are 85 percent water. Every cell, tissue and organ needs water to function properly.

There are many foods that can help with hydration this summer, and Chef Wendell has the recipes below:Sweet and juicy watermelon pizza pie

  • 1 small ripe watermelon with seeds, cut into pizza-shaped circles. Do not remove the rind.
  • 2 or 3 kiwis: Peeled and sliced into circles
  • 2 Tbsp. raw honey
  • 10 rinsed blueberries
  • 10 rinsed red raspberries
  • Mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut shavings
  • 2 Tbsp. dark chocolate shavings
  1. Place the watermelon base on a parchment paper or large platter.
  2. Evenly spread a layer of raw honey that will act as glue.
  3. Artfully arrange the toppings evenly across the red flesh of the watermelon.
  4. Sprinkle with coconut and dark chocolate shavings.
  5. Slice into pie shaped slices and serve chilled.

Cucumber Lemon Mint Detox Water

  • Water
  • Sliced cucumbers to taste
  • Fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • Mint leaves
  • Apple cider vinegar
