Bags of dead animals found dumped in alley in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A tip leads Code Enforcement to a disturbing discovery, what they found has them questioning who could do this and why?

Code Enforcement and the Board of Health were called to the scene of dead animals dumped in an alley between 15th and 16th Street in Terre Haute.

“They were dismembered, their legs had been cut off,” said Code Enforcement Officer, Laurie Tharp, as she described the scene.

Officials report at least 15 animals were found skinned, including goats. They think there could be a dog or two at the scene as well.

“Based on the size of the maggots, they had been there about a week,” said Tharp.

Officials are searching for answers as to why the animals were dumped in the alley.

“I don’t know if it’s a ritual or a belief that a certain person has for goats or if they like goat meat.”

The incident is being investigated as an animal cruelty case.

“The animals didn’t deserve to die this way,” said Tharp.

Officers are questioning residents in the neighborhood. They are asking anyone who may know anything or have any information to call police.

“This is totally uncalled for and we will find out who did it.”
