ISP arrests habitual traffic violator for OWI, resisting law enforcement

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Indiana State Police arrested a man on preliminary charges of OWI, resisting law enforcement and operating a vehicle while a habitual traffic violator.

An ISP trooper pulled over a man who was driving at a high rate of speed and ran a red light on Wednesday around 9 p.m. The trooper followed the driver to a Speedway gas station on 236th Street and U.S. 31 and stopped him in the parking lot.

The driver gave the trooper a false name and birthday. After speaking with the driver the trooper was able to get the driver to identify himself as Cheyenne Healey.

According to ISP, the trooper believed the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. An additional officer was called to the scene to assist the trooper.

Healey was asked to take a breath test. He refused and told officers that he could not go back to jail. Officers say Healey was no longer complement with their commands and they had to tase Healey. However, the tasers were not effective and Healey had to be restrained by officers.

Medics were called to the scene to treat Healey’s for the taser deployment. When medical staff was attempting to treat Healey he became combative again. Officers were able to get Healey to cooperate. He was taken to Riverview Hospital for treatment.
