‘Threatening writing’ caused Central Catholic lockdown

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Central Catholic Jr.-Sr. High School in Lafayette was put on lockdown after school officials discovered a threatening message written on a school’s wall.

“I am going to kill everyone at 3:12.”

A Central Catholic student tells WISH-TV’s sister station WLFI that was the message written in a stall of a boys restroom within a toilet paper holder, and that’s also the exact time the school dismisses students.

Central Catholic executive director Eric Davis said immediately after they were notified of the threat, the school called Lafayette police, who advised them to go on lockdown until they further investigated.

A Purdue police K-9 searched the area for guns but didn’t find any.

Parents waiting in the parking lot said the school sent them a text informing them of the lockdown, but didn’t say why.

Around 4:10 p.m., the school released students classroom by classroom.

Davis doesn’t believe the writing is a viable threat, but officials are working with police to determine the source.

There are no suspects at this time, and officials said the school has no internal cameras.

All students have been released and after-school activities are still scheduled as planned including Friday’s home football game at 7 p.m.
