Terre Haute board OKs $200K to renovate Hulman Center

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) – The Terre Haute Convention and Visitor’s Bureau board of directors has approved spending $200,000 for its share of engineering and architectural designs for a proposed $75 million renovation of the Hulman Center that would also include a convention center.

The Terre Haute Tribune-Star reports a plan from Indiana State University splits that cost among the bureau, the city of Terre Haute, Vigo County and the university. Indiana State would pay $500,000, and both Vigo County and Terre Haute would pay $400,000.

The Vigo County Council on Tuesday voted to approve its $400,000 portion.

The Indiana General Assembly this year approved $37.5 million in state funding as a matching allocation for the project.
