West Lafayette school officials considering drone ban

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – School officials in West Lafayette are considering a ban on the use of drones during school hours and school-related activities.

On Wednesday night, the school board read the first draft of the district’s proposed drone policy, which borrows wording from a template recommended by the State School Board Association.

District attorney Bob Reiling tells WLFI-TV that West Lafayette schools haven’t had issues with drones yet, but local officials want to be proactive because other Indiana districts have experienced problems.

The school board likely will revisit the policy next month after some minor wording changes are made.
