Official: Butler student hit by driver with suspended license

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A Butler University student was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after being hit by a vehicle near campus.

It happened near the intersection of West 44th Street and Clarendon Road around 10:45 a.m.

According to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department official, the woman was conscious and breathing after being hit. Police say the striking vehicle stayed on scene.

A Butler University spokesman said the female student was transported to St. Vincent Hospital for treatment. She was said to be bleeding from the head.

The spokesman said the driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license and there was a warrant for his arrest.

IMPD and Butler Police are investigating.
