Over 19K participate in Drum Stick Dash

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The 13th annual Drum Stick Dash took place on Thursday and it was a record setting year

Around 19,000 runners took off to help raise money and awareness for Indianapolis’s wheeler mission. By noon more than $21,000 was raised,

The money raised will go towards 9,000 meals for the homeless served at Wheeler Mission.

People of all ages got into the fun. Some did the four and half mile run, while others took part in the 2.75 mile run or walk and there was even a kid’s race.

Some dressed up and others brought their A game, but everyone was there for a good cause

“Thanksgiving is the most popular day of the year for running events,” said runner Kerr. This is a family day there are so many families People running together, running together as a family just to celebrate family and being together on Thanksgiving.”

A few familiar faces from 24-Hour News 8 also took part in the dash.
