Police investigate numerous break-in reports on SE side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police in Indianapolis were called to the southeast side of the city Thursday morning to investigate reports of numerous shed break-ins.

According to IMPD officials, officers were dispatched to the area of Dudley South Drive near Gray Road to investigate the report of a suspicious person walking through yards.

A neighbor told 24-Hour News 8 they woke up and heard many of the neighborhood dogs barking. When they looked outside, they saw someone walking through area yards.

Detectives say police arrived, chased a man in his 30’s down and detained him. He was placed into the back of a squad car, and police are working to determine if he was directly involved with the up to six shed break-ins that were found in the area.

Early Thursday morning, 24-Hour News 8 crews found officers on Dudley S. Dr. and just south of there, on Blackstone Drive. That’s where the police squad car was parked with the detained man sitting in the back. In front of the cruiser was a vehicle that had numerous items in the trunk. Those items appeared to be lawn equipment, possibly from a shed in the area.
