Fort Wayne renews sister city relationship with Taizhou

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – Fort Wayne has renewed its sister city relationship with the Chinese city of Taizhou.

The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette reports that Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry and Taizhou Mayor Li Yuechang signed a proclamation Thursday in Fort Wayne. Henry says the two cities already have been working to share culture and educational opportunities. However he says economic development efforts are still starting.

Taizhou and Fort Wayne first became sister cities in 2012. Fort Wayne’s other sister cities include Gera, Germany; Plock, Poland; and Takaoka, Japan.

Taizhou is in Zhejiang province.
