Rowdie Claus back to Victory Field

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Dozens of families spent the first part of their Saturday morning at Victory Field taking pictures with Rowdie Claus.

The Indianapolis Indians mascot dressed as Santa, sat down next to a Christmas tree filled with ornaments that spelled out “INDIANS”, and took lots of pictures with young fans. Some parents also decided to sit on Rowdie Claus’ lap for a photo.

In addition to pictures, the children were able to participate in several craft activities. They were able to color pictures, create Christmas cards, and decorate cupcakes.

Chelsea Lowman, community relations and promotions coordinator for the Indians, said, “We just want to have just a fun time. We wanted Rowdie to get dressed up. Some kids are afraid of Santa so we thought why don’t we put Rowdie in a Santa costume and kids can come see him.”

The event was free, but families were asked to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to Wheeler Mission Ministries, an organization that provides services for the homeless and those in need.

The Indianapolis Indians will begin spring training once the new year kicks off.

On Saturday, April 2, 2016 Victory Field will host a Major League Baseball exhibition game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds.
