Narcan saves first life of the year in Madison County

ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) – The drug Narcan, which was recently provided to law enforcement, saved the life of a man on Friday.

At 9 a.m. police received a call that a man had been injured while falling into a bathtub. When police arrived at the home, they removed the bathroom door to find the suspect unconscious in the bathtub.

According to police, there was drug paraphernalia in plain sight. The suspect was unresponsive, so officials administered a dose of Narcan. The suspect became conscious within two or three minutes.

The suspect admitted to being addicted the heroin, and that the drugs and syringes in the bathroom were his.

The suspect was transferred to the Community Hospital in Anderson.

Police will file charges against the suspect for possession of a narcotic, wheich is a level 6 felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia which is a Class C misdemeanor.
