Local animal shelter adoption event a ‘huge’ success

GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) – The Johnson County Animal Shelter held a successful free adoption program during the months of December and January.

The shelter was emptied out three times when people adopted cats and dogs.

The shelter said that more than 50 dogs and more than 50 cats were adopted.

“As we emptied out the shelter we were able to pull dogs from other shelters and help them with their overcrowding. So it was really a win win situation not only for us but for helping out other shelters as well,” said Michael Delp, the director.

The shelter said that they will be running another special for the July 4 holiday.
