Trump vows Carrier situation ‘will not happen under my watch’
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump weighed in on Carrier moving to Mexico.
In a tweet, he said “I am the only one who can fix this. Very sad. Will not happen under my watch! #MakeAmericaGreatAgain“
His tweet linked to a video of Carrier employees finding out that the company was moving.
In an announcement made earlier this week, the Indianapolis manufacturing company announced it was moving operations to Mexico. This move will impact 1,400 jobs.
“This decision is difficult and we recognize the impact on employees, their families and the community. We are committed to ensuring that our employees are treated respectfully and to working closely with their representatives throughout this transition,” said Chris Nelson, President of HVAC Systems and Services North America.
Right now, the Union is trying to fight to keep Carrier in Indiana, and other companies are boycotting Carrier.
