Columbus woman jailed after call about overdose

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A call about an unconscious person led to the arrest of a Columbus woman Sunday morning.

Around 12:24 a.m., a Bartholomew County Sheriff deputy was dispatched to a home in the 5300 block of East 50 North. Officials say the deputy was met by 42-year-old Kimberly R. Kirk, who said the female victim “had taken something” and was unconscious in a bedroom.

One deputy began CPR while a second administered Narcan, the medicine than can reverse the effects of a heroin overdose almost instantly.

Officials say after three doses of Narcan and CPR, the victim began breathing and was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital.

Deputies say Kirk had an outstanding Johnson County warrant. They found heroin on her and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail for the outstanding warrant and possession of heroin
