Morgan County traffic stop leads to drug arrest

MORGAN COUNTY,Ind. (WISH) – A traffic stop in Morgan County lead to the drug arrest of Illinois couple.

According to Indiana State Police, two officers were conducting a criminal patrol on State Road 37 just north of Martinsville. It was at that time that the officers spotted a 1997 Mazda with Illinois registration traveling nearly 80 mph in a 60 mph zone.

After the vehicle pulled over, officers began conducting their investigation when they noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The officers then found the illegal substance in the vehicle.  The male passenger, 26-year-old Stephen Vaughn of Chicago, then attempted to destroy other narcotics and refused to exit the vehicle.

Both Vaughn and the driver, 22-year-old Tiffany Witt, were arrested on scene. They face several preliminary charges including possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance, and resisting law enforcement.

Vaughn and Witt were transported to the Morgan County Jail.
