Man and woman accused of targeting ATM users

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Two ATM robbery attempts within two miles of each other may be related according to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

On Saturday afternoon, Danny McMann, drove to a BMO Harris ATM in the 900 block of North High School. He wanted to pull out some cash, when he suddenly noticed a man walking up to his car pulling on his door handles.

The doors were locked, the man couldn’t get inside, but he made demands for cash as he held a knife in his hand.

McMann, yelled at the suspect, and then he pressed the gas and tried to get out of the way. As McMann drove out the parking lot he was able to scribble down the suspect’s license plate number. He also gave 9-1-1 dispatch a description of the vehicle as a small compact silver car.

A little more than an hour later, a 43-year-old woman tried to pull out of PNC bank in the 1200 block of South High School Road.

That’s when a woman with a knife got out a silver compact car and demanded cash. The victim and her daughter were able to get away from the suspect and drive off. According to the police report, the victim told police the suspect, a woman in her 20’s, got into a car with a man in the driver’s seat.

Police are looking into several connections attached to this case. So far, police have not made any arrest.
