IMS Radio Network introduces new anchor for Indy 500

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – Soon a new voice will be heard on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio for the Indianapolis 500.

24-Hour News 8’s Laura Steele got a behind the scenes look with members of the IMS Radio Network who bring to life the greatest spectacle in racing to life.

Track historian Donald Davidson introduced us to the new main anchor for the greatest spectacle in racing and the Verizon, IndyCar series, Mark Jaynes.

Steele asked him what he thought about his new gig.

“It’s a bit surreal,” said Jaynes. “I don’t really have anything to compare that to. I’ve anchored Indy Lights and the Freedom 100, so I’ve anchored here.”

Jaynes said a lot of credit goes to his producer, Chris Pollack and his work with other anchors. He has even invited past anchors back for the big day.

“They should be here. They are part of the history and tradition of the 500 and IMS. All 3 (Paul Paige, Mike King, Bob Jenkins), that have been invited have accepted. I’m thrilled about that,” said Jaynes.
