Neighborhood joins together to fight heroin problem
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Stomping out heroin was the goal of a walk in Ravenswood on Saturday.
Dozens of people in the community came together to put a spotlight on what they call a heroin problem in the neighborhood.
This comes after a resident named Jessica Earl died last week from a heroin overdose.
The president of the neighborhood association says they want anyone who is selling heroin to either stop or get out.
“Drugs have been a problem here for a long time, but the heroin is the worst and it’s killing people. We’re just tired of people dying,” said Hal Ames, President of the Ravenswood Neighborhood Association.
Residents estimate that at least 20 people have died in the community over the past several years from heroin overdoses.
