Local companies pitch in to give Good News Mission a new roof

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good News Mission needed a new roof. Water stains plastered along the walls were evidence of a roofing problem.

The cost of a new roof for the mission’s building at 2716 E Washington Street was about $10,000. The mission runs on a deficit every year, and had no funding for a roof.

The mission decided to ask for help to get money for the roof, and someone answered the call.

Bone Dry Roofing provided the labor, and not only fixed the roof, but the decking along on the roof. Owens Corning provided the shingles, and now the roof is complete.

“We put the word out and asked for help, and that’s when Bone Dry Roofing said, ‘We will provide the labor,’” Good News Mission Executive Director Dan Evans said.

The mission feeds and houses about 1,000 men a year. It also houses homeless families in several apartment units.

“After they came here they made a relationship with Jesus Christ, and they got their lives turned around,” Evans said.
