Apartments evacuated after Lafayette police find pipe bomb
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette police have evacuated part of an apartment complex after a pipe bomb was discovered in a safe.
Police were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. Monday to Chauncey Village Apartments, just off Greenbush Street. The original call was for a domestic issue.
While serving a search warrant, investigators located a pipe bomb around 7:30 p.m.
The Tippecanoe County Bomb Squad was called in to help remove it. Residents in certain buildings have been evacuated as a precaution.
While Greenbush Street is still open, police are asking people to avoid the area.
