Driver trying to pet cat blamed for five-car crash on Ohio highway

ENGLEWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) – Troopers believe a woman’s loose cat was to blame for a five vehicle crash on the highway.

Ohio State Highway Patrol was called out to the area along the eastbound lanes of I-70 near Hoke Road around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Troopers said a New Paris woman was trying to pet her cat inside the car when the crash happened.

A total of five vehicles were involved in the accident.

The highway was shut down for about an hour while crews cleared the scene.

Four people were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The woman who troopers said started the crash has been cited.
