Major airline confirmed, a big biotech deal for a central IN company

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A major airline merger is confirmed, and a big biotech deal for a central Indiana company.

Alaska Air bought Virgin America for $2.5 billion.

The deal is the fifth largest airline in the United States.

The merger will mostly impact west coast airports, especially San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle, where Alaska Air is headquartered.

In other business news, Beck’s hybrids, a central Indiana based seed producer is partnering with a California biotech company.

Atlanta based beck’s will work with Arcadia Biosciences.

Beck’s is the largest family-owned seed company in the country. It’s also the nation’s sixth largest seed company overall.

Corn is the largest crop grown in the United States with Indiana being a major producer.
