February best month for hiring in U.S., IN home prices increasing

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – For the first time since 2006, February was the best month for hiring in the U.S, and Indiana home prices are gaining year-after-year.

The U.S. hiring jumped to a nine year high in February, which shows strong business demand for new workers.

The number of open positions slipped, and more Americans quit their jobs in February. This is viewed as a healthier and more dynamic labor market.

In other business news, home prices in Indiana increased about 5 percent.

Core Logic said the supplies of homes on the market have caused much of the price growth, where low mortgage rates and steady hiring have sparked demand.

Additionally, the west is still the best in home price gains. Washington, Oregon and Colorado have seen the largest increases.
