Murder, arson charges filed in Logansport death investigation

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) –  An arrest warrant for murder and arson charges has been issued, following a New Year’s Day fire in Logansport.

Police say the fire happened around 1 a.m. on Jan. 1, at a home on High Street in Logansport.

According to 24-Hour News 8 sister station, WLFI, inside the residence, police found Michele Jones, who was unresponsive. She was taken to the hospital, where she died the next day from injuries suffered in the fire.

Police interviewed her boyfriend, 61-year-old David Hicks, in Howard County two days after the fire and then again on March 29 in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

The Cass County prosecutor filed charges against Hicks on Monday, for murder and two felony counts of arson. An arrest warrant was also issued.

The case is still under investigation by the Logansport police and fire departments, as well as the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office.
