IMPD officer injured while breaking up fight at vigil

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A vigil for a man that was recently shot and killed turned ugly on Wednesday night.

Family members of Antoan Johnson gathered at Sherman Drive and Pleasant Run Parkway to honor his memory.

Johnson was shot and killed on April 11.

Just after 9 p.m., a fight broke out between family members.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were on-hand for the vigil and worked quickly to break up the fight.

One officer that was attempting to intervene was injured, suffering a possible dislocated shoulder.
