IMPD reaches goals in new administration’s first 100 days

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reached several goals in the first 100 days of the new administration.

Some of the goals achieved resulted in six violent felons being arrested. Sixteen other violent felons are still on the loose and their names have been sent to Crime Stoppers.

The department is also training officers on how to deal with those suffering from mental illness, just to name some of the goals.

IMPD is also partnering with other groups for Operation: Safe Surrender, which will address those with low level warrants.

“I think it’s a great idea. We are all scared to death that if we get speeding tickets, we got a bad name” said President of Southeast Community Organization Rachel Cooper.

24-Hour News 8 showed Cooper the list of goals, she expressed concern that those in her neighborhood were not included in the goals.

“I just want to be part of discussion because we are doing something right here on the south side,” said Cooper.
