Police: Ex-Indiana University official won’t be charged

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Texas police say Indiana University’s former student ethics director won’t face charges after a woman made sexual assault allegations that prompted his resignation and a review of sexual misconduct cases he oversaw at the school.

Fort Worth police said Thursday that investigators looked into the woman’s allegation that she was sexually assaulted by Jason Casares during a conference there in December.

Police spokesman Officer Daniel Segura says investigators determined that “elements for a criminal case” didn’t exist and Casares won’t be charged.

Casares says he’s now focusing on his family, finding full-time employment “and recovering my reputation with clear findings and results in hand.”

The woman, who made her allegations on social media, chastised police Thursday, saying they didn’t interview witnesses and suggesting officers didn’t take her complaint seriously.
