ROCC-a-Thon event honors victims of violence

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – To honor National Crime Victim’ Rights Week the annual ROCC-a-Thon event was held on Monument Circle on Thursday.

The event featured music, guest speakers, giveaways and recognized local champions serving victims of violence.

Dozens of rocking chairs were set up in the circle for those wanting to rock and raise awareness for local victims.

“Our focus this year is working together within the community to provide services to people who need help, responding in a way that is respectful and thorough to build trust and a lasting relationship,” said Michael Hurst, executive director of Legacy House. “We want to maintain a hopeful vision with them for their own healing, and for a community to see them and treat them with dignity.”

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is April 10-17.
