Garfield creator Jim Davis to teach at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – The creator of the world’s best-known lazy cat is about to take on a new job at his alma mater.

Garfield cartoonist Jim Davis will become an adjunct faculty member at Ball State University in Muncie this fall.

Arne Flaten is director of Ball State’s School of Art. He told The Star Press on Friday that Davis will work with students on animation and illustration but also on entrepreneurship.

Flaten said Ball State’s animation program is among the top 25 in the country but is aiming for top 10 status.

Davis is from Marion and graduated from Ball State in 1967.
