Speedway shooting leaves man dead

SPEEDWAY, Ind (WISH) – The Speedway Police Department is investigating a shooting that has left a man dead.

Officers said they received several 911 phone calls at approximately 12:33 a.m Sunday reporting gunshots fired at Brickyard Flats apartment complex, located in the 2700 block of Embassy Row.

Police said one caller reported a man had been shot.

When Speedway officers arrived to the apartment complex, they found a man who had been shot multiple times outside of an apartment building. The man was pronounced at the scene.

The victim’s identity will not be released until the coroner’s office notifies the next of kin.

Detectives have been interviewing witnesses in an effort to find out what happened. Police said the witnesses are cooperating with the investigation.
