Power knocked out after fatal crash on northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man has died after a fatal crash on the northwest side of Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Police were called to to 71st Street near Guion Road around 2 a.m.

They said a man side swiped a power pole and hit a tree.

Emergency responders had to extricate him from the car. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

IPL had to knock out power to around 20 homes to fix the downed lines. They say power should be restored soon.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash. They do not know if alcohol was a factor.
