Wednesday is ‘National Bike to School Day’

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Schools and parents statewide are encouraged to take part in National Bike to School Day.

The Indiana State Routes to School Partnership and Health by Design are hoping to see an increase in participation this year.

In 2015, more than 45 schools took part.

“Bike to School Day is an opportunity to increase the visibility of bicycling and emphasize the benefits of healthy transportation options – like walking and biking – for youth and families,” said Kim Irwin, who coordinates Health by Design and the Indiana Safe Routes to School Partnership.

The schools participating this year are in Carmel, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Logansport, Mackey, Westfield and Zionsville.
