Mayor Hogsett participates in Bike to School Day

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Mayor Joe Hogsett left his car keys at home and rode on two wheels through the Monon Trail.

Hogsett joined a group of IPS students, parents and teachers to commemorate Bike to School Day. A little rain and some clouds didn’t stop the group as they made their way to class.

Pacers’ Boomer and the Indians’ Rowdy welcomed them when they arrived.

Hogsett said it’s all to encourage kids to be active.

“Biking to school not only promotes good health, but frankly clean environments, sustainability, all the things we aspire to be as a city,” said Hogsett.

Walk-Bike to School is a national event that’s been held in almost every state since 2012.
