Dog rescued along river in Colorado
CLACKAMAS CO., Ore. (KOIN) – Sheriff deputies rescued a distressed dog that was stuck on a cliff along the Clackamas River near Barton Park Sunday afternoon.
A passing rafter spotted the dog and called 911 around 12:30 p.m., Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said. They said the dog was about 30 feet down a 100-foot cliff.
When deputies located the dog they determined he had somehow gotten stuck on the steep cliff and was unable to climb back up or down. The deputies climbed what they described as a “very steep and slippery embankment” to reach him.
They were able to safely bring the dog down to the river’s edge where they loaded him onto a boat.
Deputies checked with residents along SE Hwy 224 between Carver and Barton Park to look for the dog’s owner, the sheriff’s office said. So far they have been unsuccessful.
The dog is an older male with a large build, possibly a Rottweiler and Blue Heeler mix without a collar.
He was taken to Clackamas County Dog Shelter in Colorado.
