Drugged dad tries to sell baby in park

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Investigators say a witness called police after spotting a man at a park in Albuquerque stumbling around while carrying a baby in a chest carrier.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, KRQE,  witnesses said James Dingman was trying to sell the baby to people at Coronado Park.

According to a criminal complaint, he later admitted to officers he was on methadone while carrying the six month old.

In court Sunday, Dingman told the judge he didn’t think he should be charged under the state’s child abuse and abandonment statute.

Officers also said they found more than a dozen baggies of heroin on Dingman.

He’s booked on a $15,000 bond.
