Donald Davidson honored with Sagamore of the Wabash award

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is full of history and the keeper of all that knowledge is track historian Donald Davidson.

On Friday, Davidson was honored with the state’s highest civilian honor – “The Sagamore of the Wabash.”

When he first came to the Indianapolis 500 race in the 1960s he impressed many with his knowledge of all things Indy. He then worked for USAC for 31 years before taking his current roll in 1998 as IMS track historian.

In 2010 Davidson was inducted into Indy’s Auto Racing Hall of Fame.
