Funeral held for University of Dayton basketball star who collapsed in family home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Basketball stand-out Steve McElvene was honored Saturday by hundreds of family and friends who payed respects at his funeral.

On May 12, the 20-year-old collapsed in his family’s home, shocking many people. An autopsy was completed but no cause of death has been issued by the Allen County coroner’s office.

The New Haven High School graduate and University of Dayton basketball player was remembered during a funeral service at Abundant Life Church, off of East Coliseum Boulevard.
