Man fires gun in Lafayette bar when song doesn’t play on jukebox

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette police are investigating shots fired into a Lafayette bar early Sunday morning.

Around 3 a.m., the Lafayette Police Department was contacted concerning a man who fired a gun into the ceiling of the Varsity Clubhouse Bar, located at 827 N. Sixth St. When officers arrived, witnesses said the subject had fled on foot.

Officers collected evidence on scene and interviewed witnesses, who said the man became angry at closing time because his song had not played on the jukebox. Witnesses told police the subject argued with staff then left, only to return after a short time with a gun.

The man shot two rounds into the ceiling before leaving again.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation remains ongoing.
