Police arrest suspect in connection to 2015 murder

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – IMPD arrested a man for a 2015 murder.

Police arrested 19-year-old Davon Keeylen on preliminary charges of murder and robbery.

He faces preliminary charges in regards to the death of 21-year-old Anthony Dean on November 7, 2015.

Dean was found shot and killed in a Burger King parking lot.

Police had previously arrested a second person in connection with the murder.

They arrested Davon Grady in January on preliminary charges of murder and robbery.

Neighbor Tony Snowden will never forget the day the fast foot joint near his home turned into a murder scene. “It’s bothering and disturbing,” he said as he stood outside the Burger King.

We knew last November that there was a shooting that killed Dean, but court documents now reveal how it all started.

The documents state Keeylen posted a picture of a handgun on the app Instagram saying the pistol was for sale.

The documents state someone messaged Keeylen wanting to buy it, so they arranged to meet in the Burger King parking lot near 38th and Illinois streets.

When the buyer approached Keeylen’s vehicle, the documents state Keeylan and another man seated next to him, Grady, attempted to rob the buyer.

They state the two men fired shots that killed Dean in a nearby car.

“We have a lot of kids in this neighborhood and a lot of senior citizens in this neighborhood too. It’s a blessing that no innocent bystander or young child was hit during that time.

Snowden said because of the shooting, Burger King hired security to patrol the property in the evenings. He said it’s helped customers feel safe when stopping it.

“We believe that it will be less opportunity for something like that to happen again,” Snowden said due to the guard’s presence.

Crime continues to happen in the Crown Hill Neighborhood. But Snowden said the fact that nobody has been murdered since this case shows people are starting to take ownership of their streets.

“It just simply means we’re headed toward the right direction,” he said.
