Colts defenders learning new system

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Aggressive and attacking. Those are two words that should describe the Colts defense under new coordinator Ted Monachino.

The players say his scheme is simple. As they learn the new system in OTA’s and work during the day, they still have time to play.

Young defenders Clayton Geathers and David Parry are making the trip to Fort Wayne to appear at a Tin Caps minor league baseball game at Parkview Field.

Parry, who may need some work on his pitching skills, sees a different hunger in the defense. that aggressive philosophy the main reason.

“That’s a fair evaluation of it,” said

Parry, a second year pro from Stanford, said, “We’re still in a 3-4, but like I said before, it’s a little bit of an attitude change. Getting up the field, attacking it, taking it to the offense a little bit more.”

Fellow second year defender Clayton Geathers can’t wait for the new look to be unveiled.

“Well, you’re going to see smash mouth football. We’re going to get after people and we’re going to cover, and like I said, smash mouth football, good tough football, physical football, and get turnovers, get takeaways, that’s what we’re going to see.”

The Colts have their annual open practice schedule for Lucas Oil Stadium next week.
