Man sentenced to 85 years on child pornography charges

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man was sentenced to 85 years in prison on child pornography charges.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 35-year-old David Shaw was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge William Lawrence of the Southern District of Indiana for conspiracy to traffic child pornography.

In October of last year, Shaw, a UK citizen, pleaded guilty to 26 different counts that included conspiracy to advertise child pornography and conspiracy to receive and distribute child pornography.

The U.S. Department of Justice said Shaw was originally indicted in February 2011 by a grand jury in Indianapolis.

In December of 2014, Shaw was extradited from the United Kingdom to the U.S. to face the indictment.

In addition to charges in the United States, Shaw was also convicted of committing “indecent assault” on four females under the age of 13 in the United Kingdom.

Court records show that Shaw ran a website that gave him and other co-conspirators the ability to receive and distribute pornographic images and videos of children.

Shaw’s sentence is apart of Operation Bulldog, in which nine other individuals have been convicted.
