GOP candidates for governor to attend RNC

CLEVELAND (WISH) — There is a definite Indiana flavor at the GOP convention in Cleveland, and it’s not just because Gov. Mike Pence is the candidate for vice president.

Susan Brooks was the first candidate for Indiana governor to arrive in Cleveland. She planned to be there this week, but now it’s a requirement.

After being chosen as Donald Trump’s running mate, Pence dropped his bid for re-election and now 22 members of the state Republican committee will choose his replacement. Sixteen of them are in the Indiana delegation to Cleveland.

Brooks is in campaign mode as she rubs shoulders with Indiana’s delegates all week.

Eric Holcomb became the first candidate to file for governor Monday.

24-Hour News 8’s Jim Shella is in Cleveland all week.
